Johnson County is the only county
in Kansas NOT to have a Mental Health Court governed by a judge educated with Mental Illness. Mental Health Advocacy Day March 18, 2010
Your opportunity to address your concerns to your Legislator regarding mental
health budget reductions in November 2009 and the severe
financial reduction cuts recently taken by Kansas Legislators and their repercussions to your loved one and the community. The percentage
of Kansans lacking health insurance increased to almost 13 percent in 2006–2007, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Join Sharon Lawrenz, Executive Director of Pathway To Hope, to speak
to your Legislator. Respond to Sharon@PathwayToHope.org by March 8, 2009. Sharon will make your appoints for
you.

Support Restoration
of Medicaid Rate Reductions To address the mental health
needs of Kansans who are uninsured, under-insured or MediKan eligible, we urge you to make no further cuts, and restore the
cuts made by allotment in November 2009.
CRIMINAL
JUSTICE ISSUES WHITE PAPER Significant numbers of individuals living
with serious mental illness experience encounters with law enforcement agencies and end up in the criminal justice system
where there is a fundamental lack of understanding of persons with serious mental illness. What is Kansas doing?
MENTAL HEALTH & AGING By 2030, older adults will
account for 20% of the nation's people, up from 13% today. Mental illness is often unrecognized and unreported by seniors.
The Surgeon General’s Report (1999) estimates that at least 19.8% of Americans over age 55 experience mental illness.
VOTING DISCRIMINATION PERMITTED
IN KANSAS CONSTITUTION Did you know the Kansas Constitution currently allows the
Legislature to prevent people with “Mental Illness” from voting? It is very sad … but true.
